SainsBury's Bank Advice needed

in Credit cards
I hope someone here can help me.
I have a creidt card with sainsbury's bank, which i had on an agreement to pay £5 a month (i lost my job due to ill health, that was caused by the job).
I recieved a letter this morning telling me that as a year is up my agreement needs to be reviewed. I phone up and get told that they don't review any agreement and as of now i will be charged interest, late payment charges etc. If i don't clear the debt within 6 months then it will be passed to a debt collection agency. I asked if i could write in and offer to carry on with the agreement and was told there isn't any point as they don't review them now.
what i would really like to know is
1) is this legal?
2) any advice to help with stopping a debt collector turning up
I was going to go to the CAB but i'm so upset that i don't think i'm currently safe to drive so thought that someone here maybe able to help me.

Best thing to do is don't panic and try and calm down.
You really have answered your own question, but CAB will be able to help you more and may contact them on your behalf.
Just to add a Debt collector may be better, you will have no further interest or charges, and if you can only pay £5 and can show that, they will have to accept it
hopefully things get better0
