Bought a smelly coat - what are my rights?

Ask questions before you buy and then factor in dry cleaning etc into the price you are prepared to pay.
If you are not happy with that perhaps new clothes from the shop would be more appropriate for you.0 -
I always wash and press clothes I'm selling on eBay, but coats are quite another matter. In fact, I did recently sell some rabbit fur coats and it wouldn't have crossed my mind to clean them first. I don't wash / dry clean my own coats, so why would I spend a great deal of money just to sell them at second-hand prices?
Is it a designer coat? How much did you pay?Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Used clothing

Unfortunately there is nothing mentioning smells.Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0 -
"Thoroughly cleaned" is a bit telling, though!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Maybe it was thoroughly cleaned a few years ago, packed away in a smokers home then sold. So to the seller it is clean.
I'm with those of you that if it doesn't say comes from a smoke free environment you either have to ask before bidding or accept that you might have to clean it when it arrives.
Apart from contacting the seller and expressing your displeasure there's not much you can do.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Get in touch with the seller and see what they say. Then post and tell us the response. & we can go from there

Did the listing actually say it came from a smoke free home?Sigless0

I would contact them and tell them politely about the smell. IF they get funny then quote the rules.
When does this new feedback rule come into play? If its soon, they MIGHT NOT even be able to leave you feedback in a couple of weeks time. Thats assuming they don't automatically let items already sold before the change have feedback both waysNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -

May.
There'll be plenty of time to leavy hasty negs then, no sense rushing into it now :rolleyes:My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
How much did the OP pay versus how much it would cost new? If it was cheap then just get on with dry cleaning it and move on.Happy chappy0
