Buying car with 0% credit card

in Credit cards
Hello,
Just looking for some advice really. I have a new capital one credit card that has 0% on purchases until Oct/Nov 08. I need £1700 extra to put towards my car and was wondering if car garages would normally charge a fee for using a credit card? My father thinks they may charge 4% extra. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Thanks
K

I paid my deposit on a car through my credit card as then it was covered by the credit card insurance - there was no charge.

Most garages will let you pay the deposit on a credit card but will charge you something like 3% to pay the whole amount with a credit card.0

It's very likely they will want all or at least part of their retailer fees covered for using a credit card. 4% sounds too high and like they are making a profit or trying to make it unattractive for some reason.
I would expect it to be closer to 2% - 3% but the only way you will find out is to ask them as it's really up to them, but I would say most would want to pass on the costs.0
