Renting in Bristol ?

Hi,

I am looking to move down to Bristol with my family and initially stay in rented accommodation. My problem is that I don’t know where are the best areas and where we should avoid.

One potential area I have seen is Brislington, which appears to be quite close to the centre, but I have no idea what the area and commute would be like.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Thanks,

It all depends on where you'll be working in Bristol.

Personally, I much prefer the north-west area of the city, such as Redland, Clifton, Westbury-on-Trym. Clifton is quite expensive, but really worth looking into, as it's close to the downs and is just a really nice area. Slightly cheaper is Westbury-on-Trym and Stoke Bishop. These are also really nice areas and quite close to good schools (as far as I know- I don't have kids).

Even further out, Bradley-Stoke seems like a decent and fairly new area. It's quite a commute into the centre of town though (I would guess about 30 minutes in the morning traffic???).

I've never lived there, but Knowle seems quite nice as well (on the south-east outskirts). No matter where you are, buses can get you to work. If you drive, traffic is pretty bad in the mornings, but not nearly as bad as London.

I'm not about to offend anyone by saying which areas I think are the worst, but these are a quick overview of the ones I think are the best.
