thanks for that Jem16 I was just thinking I'd prefer to keep the 0800 number. I get free geographical calls so hopefully will be able to use your number once I have an account

Approval given to me over the phone on Tuesday, but still no instruction to the valuers until today. They've told me that the EA will get a call from the valuer Monday or Tuesday.

No debit from our account for the valuation, although we did get all our documentation back today!

Hang on in there with yours, and keep phoning them!

It's not a quick process... my timeline updated here.
did they send your wage slips etc back with recorded delivery, or just standard post please?
p.s thanks for keeping us updated, much appreciated!!!
  • Thanks Jem16, I'll give that a go tomorrow when I do my daily progress check. How's your son's application going?

He's at the stage where his accounts have been opened and he's set up all the security on them.

He did phone a couple of days ago but he said they didn't tell him much - just that it had been passed over to the mortgage section. I did ask him to ask about the valuation that he sent and was it acceptable but he didn't do that.

I suggested he phone again but he just says they would get in touch with him if they needed anything. He says what's the hurry - he doesn't move in till 18th April.

I just worry that they will turn him down and he won't have enough time to try elsewhere. Or that they will insist on their own valuation and come back with a lower valuation than the one he have already and won't lend him enough.

Just normal mail with a complements slip, glad it arrived safely! Wonder why they keep it all so long? could be so that we can't give up on them, and apply elsewhere...

No doubt 6 months from now, we'll all be pleased. But for the moment, they're slow and sometimes "speak with forked tongue" on the phone.

Today (first call of the day!), someone had the cheek to say that any delay was due to my not getting info to them quickly enough! believe me, that's not true.

  • Hi guys,

I have been following this thread for the last week so thought it only fair to give you my timeline so far

Openened a 1st account in mid Jan and was up and running in about a week

When I rang up to do the security bit I was asked if there was anything else they could help me with and I said I was intrested in the 4.99 5 year fix. They put me straight through and a agreement in principle was agreed.

Received the application form on Jan 27th

    Sent it back 10th Feb

No further contact untill today 23 Feb when I received my offer doc ( subject to valuation) to sign .

Pretty slick set up really bearing in mind I have not rang them once to chase up progress

I'll send the acceptance back today and keep you guys informed of timelines.

Great news, looks like you may be the first mse'r to get their FD mortgage

Did you switch all your banking to your FD account? I know they arrange to transfer all DD's but do you know what happens about salaries etc

I am in the process of switching all my banking to FD

I have a swich over date of March 10th for DD's. I am a little nervous about this stage although I'll keep enough money in each account and keep a close eye on the DD's .FD said they would review in 60 days but I will be contacting anyone before then i suspect we have a problem with.

I have a Barclaycard on 0% untill November with min payment on DD and just have a feeling there will be a !!!! up here so they can charge me the interest.

    oh well we'll see

As for my salaries I have informed my employer to switch in time for March 10th . No problem

thanks, i wasn't sure how they did it. Most of our DD's come out almost as soon as the money has gone in so I was worried about them switching before the salary was sorted. Hopefully it will be painless (although I bet I have fun trying to get Child Benefit and Tax credits to the new account)
  • Just an update at my end.

Received the welcome pack along with all the remaining docs in the self addressed envelope. It's with the assessors and I should know by monday if its been approved.
