    excuse the stupid question

we have applied for a remortgage with FD and we have not even considered what happens in regards to legal fees. I seem to remember them saying they were covered, is this true?

we have always remortgaged with our existing supplier before and this has never come up before.

will we have to do anything if it is a remortgage?

remortgage is free but house purchase you have to arrange your own.

Out of interest has anybody gone with FD for a house purchase. If so, how much was the valuation fee and legal fees?

    Thanks

edit: Answered my own Q in a phone call to FD. Valuation is £200 and legal fees are what my solicitor is doing already as part of our house move.

hi again, i signed and returned the offer document today. i have just called f.d for an update and they have received the valuation report now and everything is ok.
i am re-mortgaging - so what happens next please? is it just a case of waiting for the legal docs to arrive, and if so, how long will it take?

    cheers

    Hi Guys and Gals,

Can I join the party? I'm still miffed at not securing a 4.99& but have gone for the 5.29% (£2K extra cost so not very MSE!). Got a callback within the hour tonight as I am now a bank customer. After an hour on the phone I have an AIP.

hiya, why didnt you get the 4.99%, were you too late?
    i got the 10 year @ 5.15%.

are you happy with your deal then, i havent been looking at the fixed rates lately with other lenders, i guess f.d are still competitive then.how do f.d compare to other lenders.
hope it all goes well for you.

    Hi Alan,

I have quite a few posts on this thread and certainly recognise your good self !!
I originally called they day before they pulled the 4.99 but they wouldn't honour it. 5.29 is a good rate in current climate.

Things were moving pretty smoothly for my son also. This last week hasn't been so good though.

Last Tuesday they said his valuation was to be accepted and that they were sending out the official offer. When it still wasn't received by Saturday he phoned and was told it was stuck in a queue as someone hadn't completed some part or other.

Today he got a text asking him to phone. Apparently his valuation had to be retyped as they couldn't accept a copy ( despite them saying to send a copy) and it wouild cost £65. They wanted payment. He offered a Mastercard but they would not accept it. Fortunately he also had a Visa card which they took. Still would not confirm when they were posting the offer.

He says he will phone again tomorrow. He has told them his entry date is 18th April and has been assured it will all be sorted by then. It's getting a bit frustrating now.

Gambler - I remember you posting about not getting the rate. Welcome to FD club  .

Jem16 - That's bad about the valuation. I'm sure it will be sorted in time, as he's very near the end of the process now.

Update from me - Updated timeline here
I have received a letter from the Solicitors saying they have received the mortgage offer from FD. I've arranged to sign the offer on Monday 17/3. So then I should be already for whenever the call comes to say we are completing. Great.

I phoned FD today to ask when we pay the arrangement fee, which I have been told if it wasn't added to the mortgage it will be taken off my credit card if I have already given them these details.

Welcome back Gambler:beer: hope it goes smoothly for you.

Jem16 sorry to hear about your son's mix up. Hope its all sorted soon

Lostsocks there were no FD external mail fires either then :rotfl: Glad its going well still.

I've just called to see if my amended offer was done yesterday and it wasn't but the lady I spoke to assured me she's doing it now (and also apologised that it was her who cocked up the original)
I also asked to change my payment date from 1st to 25th so I'll have to be extra careful using Quicken to keep an eye on the out goings but at least H's salary gets to stay put a bit longer.

Anyone know if its possible to ask utilities etc to change a DD date?

    another thought too.........

Has anyone looked into the FD Gold Credit card. It has 0% on purchases for 12 months. We do all our spending on CC anyway and pay off monthly. I was thinking of applying, use for all spending, pay the minimum and put the rest in the offset savings until the 0% was up.

Anyone know how easy it is to get/ what income you need?
