First car insurance advice

Hi,
I have finally passed my driving test and now about to buy my first car. I have been search online for insurance cover for the car that I am going to buy, I have been quoted 830 to 870 from directline and confused.com searches. Is this normal? Sounds bit high to me, I would really appreciate if someone can give me advice on getting insurance, I am a newbie when it comes to this area.

Thanks

Bags of advice in the Best Buy Article on car insurance. Click the link at the top of this page in the "Best Buy Articles" section.

If you are just 17 and female, £830 sounds not too bad (good if you are male), and in the ball park for your first policy, though follow the advice in the article to ensure you get the best price.
