HD-DVD or Blue ray

Yes that's going to be a nutty one for MS and Sony if HD-DVD does die off. MS haven't ruled out using Blu ray, but I've heard nothing from the other side and nothing concrete either way.
EDIT: I thnk this sums up the current situation pretty well: http://www.cnbc.com/id/231969490 -
And there we have it:

HD-DVD is now finished! Although I feel sorry for Toshiba, I'm just so relieved that the war was over before it really began.0 -
Interesting article on PS3's contribution: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7252506.stm
I remember I'd debated this with my dad before the PS3 came out that it'd make a large difference to the format market. He was very dismissive of the gaming market (he's a bit of a hi-fi/home cinema purist and they tend to be quite snobbish about the influence of PCs and games consoles)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Yes I just read that myself actually! Hehe. It seems that the gambles have paid off for Sony. I kinda feel sorry for them with their poor track record of proprietary formats so good on them for winning at last
Though as that article points out, quite what they've won remains to be seen. I will almost certainly get a PS3 or Blu ray player at some stage, but only when I can afford one! 0
