Forum Software

Forgive me if this has already been said, or if this offends anyone administering the forum. But doesnt anyone else think the forum SW is a bit out dated now? I use many other forums and they all seems to be "newer" have more "features" etc etc than this one.

I'm not big on PHP or forum software, infact I know nothing, I just thought it could be easily upgraded with minumum downtime, to improve things.

Anyone?

On various forums I can see 3 different versions 3.6.x

Some may have one or two feature options switched on or off, but I haven't noticed any basic differences

You can manage some options in the User Control Panel, such as editing formats, which might be what you are looking for

On a forum this size (must be a gigantic database) even upgrading the version of vBulletin would be a major undertaking.

I believe Martin has said in a few posts that because of the size of this forum his "techie/server" people work quite closely with the vBulletin developers.

I'm sure there are many extra features that could be implemented even with the current software, but again with a site this big keeping things simple is normally the best policy.
