Hotel Heathrow Needed

My friend needs a hotel for Heathrow, not sure what Terminal but she is flying with Virgin, is there a hotel that is actually at the airport so that you don't need to catch a minibus? any deals about?

Comments

  • She will be more than likely be going from Terminal 3.

Alas no hotels directly linked to Terminal 3. The hilton is linked to Terminal 4 which is on the other side of the airport. There is a new Travelodge near Terminal 5, and a Travelodge at Feltham - where there is a direct bus service to Heathrow bus station.

The Hilton also tends to be rather expensive.

All the other hotels are located on the Bath Road (though there is also a Jurys near Terminal 4). She would then have to catch a "courtesy bus" for which most charge (around £5 at some hotels apparently - so check before you book).

  • To avoid the cost of a minibus trip it's probably best to stay at the Hilton at Terminal 4. Your friend can then catch the Heathrow Express between terminals which is free.

However, whether the Hilton offers the best price for a nights stay I have no idea!

    Best to shop around.

As previous posters have commented there are no hotels by terminals 1,2 or 3 as the central area is compact.

You can get to the airport for FREE from the vast majority of the hotels around Heathrow: just use the red public service busses. Around Heathrow they operate the "Heathrow Free Flow Free Fare Zone" (try saying that quickly *lol*) which basically means that the busses are totally free so long as you're only going between a stop within the zone and the airport. Sometime you'll need to cross the A4 depending on your direction of travel, but there are plenty of pedestrian crossings. All the busses below start from/terminate at the Heathrow Central Bus Station.
Free local Bus routes from the Central Bus Station:
Hotels mentioned are near to stops but may not be a direct stop. Some require crossing a dual carriageway. Please see the local map below before making plans to use a route. Local buses stopping and picking up at terminal 4 at terminal 4 (555, 556, 557, 805, H23) stop at stand 7 outside terminal 4 arrivals.

441: Terminal 5 shuttle bus (this part of the route is within the freeflow zone, see above). Stops at N5 car park on route to terminal 5. Terminates at Englefield Green and goes via Staines and Egham.

So no need to use the ridiculously overpriced Hotel Hoppa bus!

Edited to add - because the map simplifies things its a bit misleading: on the top right of the map, the map makes it look a long way fron the "Harlington Corner" bus stop to the Holiday Inn and Ibis hotels, but in reality the bus stop is actually right outside the HI and the Ibis is only 1 min away.
On the other hand the map accurately shows that from the Travel Inn you would need to pay a £2 single fare on the bus from the bus stop right outside (but that's still a cheaper than using the Hoppa bus!)

Just to add to Vampgirls excellent post

The Toolkit for London web-site has detailed info re hotels location and their transport options
  • Heathrow Terminal 4 is now a home for the new 'Yotel' I dont think its your average hotel...maybe more like a pod? as previously said you can get the HEX free from T3 to T4 or when you land in T3 follow signs for flight connections take the bus to T4 then land yourself through immigration there.

Just had a quick look on yotel site and it seems you can get a nights stay for around £82, not sure how that compares to others. Oh and if they will be staying in the hotel before travelling then ignore my flight connections rubbish from last post, I assumed they were landing then heading to hotel. oops :S

Try the Sheraton Skyline, they have rooms at £55, which is good for that class of hotel.

  • Bear in mind that the £55 rate is exclusive of VAT - the total is £64.63 including VAT.

The Sheraton Skyline is very nice. I've stayed there 3 times on Priceline winning bids of £35 (around £42 inc tax.)
