RBS black card

Hi

I've received a letter offering me an RBS black card, however my income isn't the minimum £75,000 they ask for. Am I likely to be accepted for the card?

Thanks

  • Probably not, unless you are already an RBS customer, usually with those things they target residential areas, so if you live in a comparatively affluent area you'll get them in the post all the time. I get Amex Platinum letters all the time.

I doubt the bonuses are worth the £250 a year fee anyway.

Thanks for your reply, I am already an RBS customer, although I thought they would just be blanket mailing. Do you get any black marks against your credit history if you applied and were declined for the card?
  • Not a black mark but there will be a record of the credit check on your record. Too many will affect your chances of further credit in the short term

possibly they upgraded me twice without having the min income

edit - i have the normal classic card and in aug 06 they upgraded me to a gold card then in nov 07 they upgraded me to the plat card and i dont even fulfil the min income requirement for the gold
  • If already a natwest customer, they may well internally score only, using the info they already have on you, & will not do a credit check with Experial et al.
