Any magic words to speed up an insurance claim???

I'm currently involved in an insurance claim (as the 3rd party, not at fault) but its tkaing ages to sort out. Currently at 7 weeks since the incident date.

The insurance company say they still haven't heard back from the insured party to confirm details of the incident. I phone about once a week to chase up the claim as I want a cheque to replace the car that was written off (an uneconomical repair).

Are there any magic words that I can use to hurry the claim along like "If you don't get it sorted I'll get a lawyer to reclaim costs?" They keep saying leave it another few days and they don't even seem to be that bothered that I've had a replacement hire car for 7 weeks at £45.00 per day which they are paying for.

Are they paying for the hire car right now? It is not you paying and you expect to be able to recover the costs?

If they really are paying the bill, I don't see the problem, unless the hire car is in someway unsuitable. I'd be quite happy to wait until I got the cheque under those circumstance.

Yeah so long as someone's paying for the hire car it's up to them to hurry up to pay out.

I would be elated if my insurance company would give me a hire car for 7 weeks at no cost, perhaps we should all know which company this is.;)
