How can i edit REGISTRY

Win.2000 I need to edit registry to get rid of trojan.Start -click run-type regedit32-click ok. message-cannot find file regedit(or one of its components).make sure path & filename are correct & that all required libraries are available.Done search on hard drive,cannot find file.
Bit of a duffer on computers but trying to learn.Where do i go from here?

    With all due respect, editing the registry is not to be undertaken lightly, I would not recommend a novice to do this.

    As for where you should go next I would suggest to a local PC shop ;)
