Ok the other people who you receive mail off do see your address as they need to know where to mail it to, and it's either printed on a label to be stuck on an envelope or it has to be hand written by them. All RI and Smart codes must be entered on the website prior to postage and afterwards. Prior as to say it is ready to be mailed off and afterwards to say which Post box and what time and date etc.

    Yeah.
    nothing top secret tho

Hi Everybody - this is my first post

I have also registered and received my pack today, but before continuing I wondered if anyone has checked the authenticity of this with Royal Mail?

Just a bit concerned that it's some sort of scam as anyone could knock up the Royal Mail letter on their website, and if you go on holiday for example, you're telling perfect strangers you're house is going to be empty for three weeks. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but it could even be a "Big Brother" style test on us !! :rotfl:

I'm going to contact Royal Mail and see how I get on - will post any feedback here. This won't invalidate any survey as Royal Mail won't know where I am from my email address alone.

Also, does anyone who's done this for a while know if my address will be sent out to other people? Will I receive post from other testers or are they all designated addresses? (and if so couldn't that invalidate the test??)

Questions..... questions! Interested to hear your views!!

    If you look here:

Here is a link to a letter from Royal Mail confirming that this survey is legitimate.

  • Being a postman of over 25 years,do any of you actually realise how many people process your mail before the postie who delivers your mail actually gets his hands on it if at all.I have signed up for a lot of these so called freebies on here and only received one or two,I deliver my own mail so either I am a light fingered postie or everyone in the royal mail is on the fiddle or maybe that the companys are not sending them in the first place,Stealing from royal mail isnt just a sackable offence it could also lead to going to prison,Im not saying all posties are whiter than white, but risking your job for a few samples of perfume etc etc etc !!!!!!
  • All,

You may have seen my post below, regarding the confirmation as to whether this is legititmate.

Well, today I received the information below from Royal Mial (having forwarded them my welcome email from mr-registration@research-int.com)

Based on this I have decided not to continue.

Obviously everyone here can form their own opinions and decide to go for it or not, but I just wanted share this so everyone is comfortable with the decision they reach.

    Thanks for reading. ~sS

Here is what the letter on their website confirming Royal Mail's affiliation with Research International UK says: (bits for attention highlighted in red)

    Dear Panellist

May I firstly thank you for participating in this research project; your assistance is extremely valuable.

As a business, Royal Mail has a regulatory requirement to obtain independent and unbiased measures of the performance of our service and so we have contracted Research International UK to carry out this survey.

To maintain the integrity and independence of this research it is clearly important Royal Mail is not aware of the identity of individuals or businesses that agree to participate. We therefore ask that you do not discuss these arrangements with anyone from the Royal Mail Group.

The Quality of Service results will be produced by Research International in a way in which your identity will remain totally confidential.

Should you have any questions about the survey, please call the Research International Helpline on 0800 015 3150.

    Yours Faithfully,

    Phil Kirby

Now its a fair comment to say anyone really could have knocked up this letter. And its always wise to exercise caution in these matters. But doesnt it make sense that Royal Mail would outsource these sort of matters to a Research company?! AND that it would, on the whole, be kept hush hush at the Royal Mail and not every employee would know about it? here is a link to the Research company's actual main website http://www.research-int.com/home.asp which I googled, which seems to show they are a worldwide research company, operating in many countries.

Also the Royal Mail Surveys system website obviously has access to the knowledge of every single post box / post office in the UK, as when you enter your post box number, it tells you exactly which one and where its located - now I don't know of any other organisation who would possess these details other than one affiliated with the Royal Mail? I certainly know you can't just find this info online, as I've tried to find all my local post boxes and had no success.

At the end of the day you gotta make up your own mind, to me it all seems to add up but if you are a bit concerned I guess I'd suggest you telephone the number above, ask them for details of who you could possibly speak to at the Royal Mail to confirm that it IS legit, or possibly ask for something official looking in writing.
