Re-mortgaging house and applying for a credit card for the 1st time

Hi everyone
I am just looking for some advice about how my credit score might be affected by the following:
I am in the process of re-mortgaging my house and transferring a shared mortgage into my name only. I have been offered a quote for a new mortgage with a high street bank who seem happy to lend me more money (subject to a re-valuation of the house).
So far so good, but I am starting to look into paying off my overdraft (with a view to reclaiming my bank charges) and one way I would like to do this is to apply for a 0% interest for payments card, and open another bank account ideally with a 0% overdraft to share the debt between the 2.
As my mortgage offer is not definite, I'm not sure if I should be making any more applications for credit until this is confirmed as I am worried about how my credit rating will be affected and whether it could harm my mortgage application?
Thanks a lot!
