Permission to let

Hi
Just wanted to find out if anyone has had their permission to let request declined by their mortgage lender?
We are just about to change to a five year fixed mortgage with Nationwide and I told the advisor that we are planning on going travelling in May 2009 for a few years (poss taking us past the fixed period - approx 3.5 years) she said that they hardly ever decline peoples request to let their property.
Therefore I just wanted to check their comments stand true.
Many thanks
Stephanie

People have come on here saying that they have been refused permission.
I would be inclined to ask anonymously first and phrase it as "consent to lease".I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
