8% gross offered to members of 10 years or more was a great idea of Derbyshire Bdg Soc for the Loyalty Saver (for regular monthly deposits). Opening it ran smoothly for me.
A couple of years earlier I was amongst members who expressed disappointment to the Society at drastic reduction in interest on their old Regular Savings account. Good to have a bdg. society rewarding existing customers.

    New Investors: £500.00
    Out of Area Investors*: £5000.00

    * Out of Area applies to customer’s resident outside of Leicestershire, Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire. This does not apply to existing members of the Society. :(

Im in the fortunate position to have the full amount to invest in two isas (mine & spouse), question is which society?

I used to be into "carpetbagging" in a big way in the old Carpetbagger & Money Bag days but closed a lot of accounts to fund change in life style.

I already have accounts at Nationwide, Britannia, Staffs Railway, Skipton & Kent Reliance & have now looked at the Principality, Cheshire or Derbyshire.

The three societies you mention can all have a savings account opened with a low deposit ( 100.00 or less) so my advice is to get the best rate on your ISA funds and open 100.00 ( or low cost monthly savers ) with Cheshire, Derbyshire and any others you can afford to stick low amounts of money in.

Money Bag is still operating and so is "Mutuals" sub forum on R-Points, obviously a year 2000 ( or before) carpetbagger like yourself will know all the low downs on carpet bagging.

Some hardcore baggers use their ISA allowance to get into more hard to get into societies even if it means taking a interest rate hit.

right, all this carpet bagging stuff is interesting.

I have just applied online for a cheshire black cat savings account £150

    and a derbyshire...

But in the T&C's, I am confused about the "assigning windfalls to charity" section.

it appears if I received conversion benifits, or merge benifits, the charities aid foundation will get or be informed of the arrangment and my details???

Any confimation on this?? Am I wasting my time carpetbaggings?

" Signaway" has never been applied in the instance of a BS merger so nope IMO u arent wating your time as an adult but ill leave it to others to comment on the potential position of under 18s which is what the black cat account is for. ;)

Sorry, the cheshire one was a Easy Saver, was looking at a cat one for my son..

Hopefully after 6 months I can transfer to the better account.

One of the most cost effective accounts involving minimal funding is the regular saver, open with 100.00. stick 25.00 in a month with a facility of 2 withdrawals a year.
