Missing Parcel - Where do I stand?

Hi there
Ordered a phone on a new contract from CPW on Friday. I'm in the prcess of moving in with my OH, knew I would more than likely be there so chose her address as the delivery option. Waited in all day today, noticed the CityLink van going past at about 4.15pm so decided to check online to see what was happening.

When I checked it said that the item had been put in a grey box at 2.06pm. I called CPW immediatley and they advised that it had been delivered to my home address (not the required delivery address) and had been put in a box next to the door. Now this item should of been signed for!! I asked my daughter to go around to my home address to look for it and there is no phone in any 'grey box' or bin.

I've informed CPW of these developments and at first they asked me if I wanted to take insurance on it!! I said that considering I hadn't received it that it was inappropriate to take out insurance cover. I then asked to speak to a supervisor who has told me that they cannot start an investigation until tomorow.

Now I'm left wondering what is going to happen. What happens if somebody has 'stolen' the phone activates it and runs up a bill? Will I be responsible? Am I going to be left with a contract and no phone? Sorry for all the questions but I've never had to deal with anything like this beofre and I don't know where I stand

  • the phone should not be on line till you get it but they may be able to use it on payg but i wouldn't worry about the bill just let
but i would it get sorted out asap so i would keep on at them till its sorted
  • you didn't sign for it - infact nobody did so it would be fairly easy to argue that the cpw or citilink had been negligent and it's not your fault/liability. Don't worry and if you don't get your new phone in the next day or two kick up a stink and get them to send a new one out. In all probability the driver probably still has it.
