A debt collection agency phoned me up about a small debt I owe; they asked if I could pay it off over the phone? I said I couldn’t and offered them £100 a month for three months till it was paid off. They said if I don’t pay the £300 pound now! They are going to take me to court and I will have a further £500 legal fees…

Well done on sticking to your guns. They were just putting pressure on you to see if they could get the money out of you quicker.
