But (hen as usual) we've been here before - great account when they first started (late 80s, early 90s??) but very quickly "did an ING", then many years later tried it on again, then "did another ING".

No big deal these days - keep your eyes open and move the cash when a better deal turns up.I normally have a look round every 6 months and move anything if I can get an extra half a percent.

An option is to close the account and have the interest credited to an external account immediately :j . They have been happy to do this in the past if you supply details of another account.

Got an email reply citing "market conditions" as the reason for the extra quarter point cut.
