hi there never posted on this board before cant quite believe this happened today. Basically i was reversing and clipped the front drivers side of my car. The bumper at that side has dropped down slightly (but i think can be fixed back on) and the casing for the indicator light has come off but is still in one piece. The indicator bulb needs replacing as does the casing the bulb sits in i think. Thankfully its not a serious accident and no one was hurt but ive only been driving since september and its my first accident so im quite upset.

Can anyone possibly tell me how much i would be looking at paying / how much is reasonable for a new indicator bulb and the casing replacing plus the refit of the bumper and outer casing of the light? Its a nissan almera.

Many thanks

  • You could well find the bumper has just come off its clips and can be pushed back into place.

As for the light housing you may find it is designed to come out so the bulb can be replaced - you may be able to clip it back in. If it is broken the cheapest thing to do would probably be to source one from a scrap yard (can be done on the internet) and fit it yourself - this shouldn't be hard. Otherwise if you went for a new one and got someone to fit it I would say you could be looking at around £100 to fix it but that is only a guess.

A new front indicator for an Almera (casing + bulb) costs around £30 from the Nissan dealer and is quite easy to fit as it's secured by a single screw above the headlight - if you find a small independent garage they should do it for £5-10 as it's only a few mins work, they may be able to advise about the bumper too, but get several opinions/quotes before going ahead with any work.

thankyou to you both for replying. I took it to a garage this morning where my husband has always had his mot's done and they fit a new bulb, screwed the bumper back on and refit the outer casing for the light. It took them 3 hours and they charged me £40. I was so relieved. My dad in law told me last night that i would need a new bumper which would have cost a fortune so i was very happy when the mechanic told me how much it would cost. It looks better now than it did before i crashed it lol.
