Thanks for your very interesting replies. We have a voucher already for Dolland and Aitchison for a free eye test plus £25 off spectacles but we thought that Specsavers offer of two for the price of one pair of specs was better? Nobody seems to think much of Specsavers on here, do they? "

I have a D&A free eye test (+ nectar points) coming up this Friday and then will use Specsavers for my free pair of varifocals - have used Specsavers for years now, always timing it for the free pair, and they have always been good - it will be interesting to see if the D&A eye test is different from what SS would have done.

Why are folks so desperate for a free eye exam. Isn't it obvious that those places that do offer free eye exams do so for a reason - they deperately need the business. If they just got on and did a good job, they wouldn't need to.
err maybe coz we need a new eye test and dont wanna pay £20 for it?

Couldn't you get the free eye test at D&A and then go to Specsavers to look at their frames if you like the 2 for 1 glasses offer?

Yes, but my point is you get what you pay for.

Think about it. Would you go the extra mile for someone, if they were only there because it was free and didn't value your time and effort?

A top-notch Optometry practice would be busy enough through reputation and therefore wouldn't have to give away free exams in an attempt to entice patients or (customers as they call them).

I got sucked into the free eye test at D&A 'offer'.

Its the quickest, least comprehensive eye test I've ever had. They were rude and dismissive. It could well be isolated to that branch (Loughborough) but I will not be returning.

Not only that, they make it very hard for you to have a contact lens exam then go and buy your lenses elsewhere.

my eye test at Gravesend was very thorough (oooooooooooooooh, matron!)

  • I've printed out these vouchers from Vision Express and have an eye test booked for this coming Saturday, I mentioned them at the time of booking. The eye test is £11 with the discount as far as I know, not sure if it varies by region though (I'm in Maidstone).
