Finally rang CCCS they suggested a dmp i am just in the process of opening a new bank account a feel quite sad as i have been with Lloyds for many many years but most of my debts are with them so i thought it may be a good idea to swap banks now is this the right thing to do now ?
When a do enter into the plan with cccs they say cancel all DD do you get charges at first ? I have never had bank charges before i am alittle worried about this as these will add to my debt .

You have made a positive decision and although it may seem tough ATM, things will become easier for you. You can claim all charges back.
Keep your chin up.

This link has a list of bank accounts and says who they are related to.
Also there is a DMP SUpport thread that as a huge number of people in there (if you are a member already apologies I am terrible with names!) which is a wealth of support and ideas.
Well done on what you have done so far!0 -

hi
well done on making the first steps in your debt free journey.
I posted on your other thread as i have more debts with lloyds and i banked with them over 20 years and even before that when i was still at school and they were tsb bank. I felt the same but 9 months down the line i dont feel any loyalty now not once did they contact me and i had a priviledge account with them as well. They have agreed to the plan which is good now as i have overdraft and cc and loan with them.
I still have a current account open with lloyds but only to pay my overdraft to and i opened a co-op current account (they are only connected to smile i believe and they are really good and helpful in branch).
As others have said the dmp mutual support board is great for all advice on your plan and other problems which may arise.
take care well done
you will feel stressed at the moment it is natural but that will go, and you will feel more in control. well done again for taking this decision.

Hi Carlos700
Welcome onboard. The DMP board recommended by Rayday2 and Bowz25 is very good. You will find lots of people in a similar situation who all are willing to offer help and advice for any one in need of it.
The sooner you change banks the sooner you control your money. Your creditors can’t touch it as you don’t provide them with your new bank details, so you control your payments to them by SO or over the counter with slips. Only set up your priority payments by DD such as rent/mortgage, counc tax, utilities etc.
You may find that if you have a loan with Lloyds they may possibly take another payment from your account before the DMP starts as they are unlikely to want to cancel their own payments. This may incur a charge if it takes you over your agreed borrowing limit, but this balance will be included onto your DMP.
Good luck

Thanks very much for your advice where is the DMP board i cannot find it .
I felt positive this morning thinking me ringing the CCCS is the best way forward but i feel i bit unsure now .
I wondered generally people who enter into a dmp are they behind with payments ? I am not behind with anything the problem which i have is after i have paid everything i only have around £100 per month ,out of that i have to feed a family of 5 also my petrol .If anything crops up for example MOT on car or emergencies i use the credit card .Sometimes at the end of the month i have not got enough in to pay all the DD so i have to take cash out again from a credit card this is not every month but you can see i relay on my credit card which i hate .
I am worried because even though i am struggling i think my credit score is ok .I suppose at present i have no one chasing me as such if i enter into a DMP will i start getting nasty letters or start getting charges .
I feel so confused !!!0 -

Hi
I wasn't behind with any payments but I also couldn't afford ordinary outgoings once I'd paid the debts off. So I then did have to not pay them and ran up charges, but it'll be balanced by all the interest I am now not paying and the fact I can live without debting!

Yep. It's the "DMP mutual support thread" rather than a separate board.
Good luck with the DMP.
From the people's experiences on here I've read, it can be a bit of a bumpy path at first getting the creditors to agree and settle down. But there is plenty of support and advice here to help you through any difficult patches. Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
