I am looking for a device to link my non-digital camcorder to my computer in order that I can save my family moments onto a DVD.

Has anybody got any recommendations on this front.

    mjenn,

You might get more responses on the Techie board, so I hope that you don't mind if I move your thread over there.

You could get one of those "dazzle" attachments which will allow you to plug the Cam in.
Seem to remember they were about £49 - maybe Ebay would be a cheap option?

Most TV cards have a composite video (yellow phono socket). Prices normally from around £30.

You'll need lots of hard disk space to capture video for editing or transferring to DVD.

I use to plug in my old video8 camecorder into the TV in on a Gforce video card and edit the captures using Ulead videostudio, worked quite well. But you need a reasonable pc, 2GB,512MB ram and the leads. Not all video cards have Tv in many have tvout.

I then tried the inputs on my Liteon 5006 standalone dvd recorder and that was slightly better recording on to dvdrw. I then imported the video into ulead Videostudio, edited it and added transitions etc and burn to dvd-r.

Now I have a DV camera I can easily edit video via pc. However I have just recently imported a 14 year old video of my eldest daughter when she was a baby via vhs video to dv input and that worked reasonable well. Video is a little faded so I need some time to clean it up and add transitions. I just backup the raw video on to dvdr and edited it when I have the time or the inclination.

I just started using cyberlink powerdirector and that has loads of good filters for cleaning and restoring video

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you
