Have checked out the main boards diet threads but don't like em - too big and impersonal!

I am coming to the end of mine. I had put on a bit much in the last couple of years so needed to lose about 2 stone to get back to a really healthy situation. So I got myself a cross trainer and cut the diet down dramatically. So I cut out whitebread and fatty foods (or some of them!), I do something in the region of 500 cals per day on the machine and I have lost my 2 stone in just under two months. I am now more concerned with scaling up so that I can match intake with output....2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
I just need motivation and a zip on my gob to help me lose the weight I have put on

Seriously though if you want to start a Norn Iron weight loss thread, go for it

I've been half heartedly dieting since New Year using Weight Watchers.
Really like the idea of a Norn Iron diet tread.
Motivation, support and a huge cyber kick up the bum is needed for meHow does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?0 -
The Norn Iron weight loss club is open for business

Edited to add: I have added the club to the NI board index and made it sticky for now

two stone in less than two months is pretty impressive - especially your 500 kcals crosstrainer efforts - i'd recently purchased a rowing machine which i use 3 times a week (should really be daily
), i find i am able to burn 200 kcals on it (approx 20 mins worth of rowing) before becoming knackered!
also had to endure a debate with my dad over it, in which he argued that rowing machines give women shoulders like Fatima Whitbread's and that I ought to have purchased a cycling machine etc etc....:rotfl:
you are wise to think of scaling up your intake gradually - but it's a nice position to be in. what was your typical daily diet if you don't mind my asking?Norn Iron Club Member.295; Norn Iron Weight Loss Club Member.10 -

To be honest, i didnt think my diet was too bad! I typically skipped breakfast, lunch would have been 4 slices of whitebread, butter and cold meat, dinner was typically oven (pre prep) type food, something like 3 waffles and a southern fried chicken breast but I am guessing the killer was the little gummy sweet things I loved along side icecream for dinner desserts. That had all led to a stone on in the period of about 8 months.... that does not sound too bad but when EVERYone comments about your belly having grown, you know you need to do something about it!!
I have to admit that I cannot stand the rowing machine, it tires me out so quickly! When I went to the gym I would have done only 5 mins on one yet a half an hour on the cross trainer would have been a breeze in comparison.2 + 2 = 4

Okay I think I gotta join this thread as well
I've managed to put on a fair bit of weight this winter and it's depressing me. My clothes are too tight as well and yet I'm having trouble getting the motivation to stop eating
On the bright side I have been continuing to exercise, I usually manage the gym 4-5 times a week but I'm not really doing any of the 'on top' stuff that makes the difference. And doing a lot too much eating sadly.
Let's go for it. I am heading out for a walk at lunchtime to consider a weight loss target. And will need to weigh myself in the morning to figure out where to set it. I pledge to post my aims on here tomorrow!!0 -
Okay I've had my lunchtime think and I plan to drop a stone in 8 weeks (so by 7 April). This will be a bit of a challenge, especially since i may be a away a couple of times in this period, but I know it will make all the difference to my clothes fitting me!! I'm not sure exactly what I weigh now (I know it's over 12 stone, hoping it's closer to 12.4 but will know in the morning. After this I'll see how I go but I would probably drop to about 1lb a week or thereabouts.
Anyone else up for setting themselves a target?? I'm going to put mine in my sig just to keep it fresh in my mind...0 -
post all aims etc on the Norn Iron Diet Club thread
also if you want to be allocated a number it will help me keep a track of things

Seeing as we now have a dedicated sticky thread for the Weight Loss Club, I'll close this one off now
