  • Hi there,
Firstly, congratulations!! I too had just found out I was pregnant when we went bankrupt in Dec 06...it didn't effect our SOAs, but I did mention it during my phone call to the OR, who just said at least I'll be debt free to enjoy the baby! I did have a small IPA set up, but once I'd gone onto SMP I wrote to them advising them of my drop in income and the IPA was written off...was really quite easy to sort out. Think we paid three months of the IPA in the end.
Hope everything goes well for you xx
  • Just been reading through this for info as I am 6m pregnant at the mo and about to fill in my BR forms. I am a housewife and have no income of my own apart from Child Benefit £75 per month and Childrens Tax Credit £40 per month. These are paid in my name but into my husband's bank account. They are used up each month for general stuff you need for a toddler and obviously when I have this baby both these amounts will increase. Q: Will the OR take this money away for the creditors?

When I went BR I was just over 5 months pregnant, so starting to show a lot lol. I didn't know quite what to do with the forms so just put a single persons allowance etc, but on additional expenses, I added things I'd need to buy for the baby on his arrival. The OR pointed out that with a child I'd be spending a lot more on day to day expenses, need a bigger clothing allowance for the wee one, etc, so made the changes as if I had the child then. I thought when ds was born, then I'd need to apply to a change in circumstances. I'd say it'd depend how far gone you were, if it was early on in the pregnancy, I'd say you'd have to provide proof you were having another. Congratulations to you too!
There's a storm coming, Mr Johnson. You and your friends better batten down the hatches, because when it hits, you're all gonna wonder how you ever thought you could live so large and leave so little for the rest of us.
  • Thanks both of you that puts my mind at rest, got enough going on at the mo

  • Hi everyone,

Thanks for all the kind words you gave me above...

I was rushed into hospital about two weeks ago with a suspected ectopic, and had to have my fallopian tube removed (+ baby). The surgeon said I was around 9 weeks so as you can imagine its been very stressful here.
Just cant believe what Ive been through! With the bankruptcy and the pregnancy, I feel like Ive been damaged physically and mentally at times!

Ill get there is the end!

    LC,
I am so sorry to hear what you have been through. BR is stressful enough never mind everything else.
    Big hugs.
