BR and pregnancy...

Okay peeps....

Ive just found out im pregnant! :j Big shock to family and boyf but all in all we are happy! Am going to my county court 2m to declare myself bankrupt - Will this make any difference to my BR claim? i.e Ill obviously have to start to save BIG TIME now, will I still be charged an IPA??? This may pose a big problem....

And should I put it on my SOA, or wait until my interview with my OR?

Hmmm.

  • Hi LC and congratulations:j

You shouldn't mention any changes to the OR until they happen, though you can of course tell him/her at the interview that your pregnant. They don't really take any notice of 'whats to come' only of 'how things are at the moment'..

Re: the IPA, if you have an excess of £100 or more then, yes you'll receive one, but if your circumstances change then you'll have to let the OR know at the time of change for things to be sorted.

  • congratulations :j :j :D:D
  • You might need to adjust your SOA slightly...your eating for two, so may get away with a very slightly higher housekeeping (not sure on this though)..but all your prescriptions and dental will be free so need to be removed. swings and roundabouts.

  • Aww thanks everyone :p

yes i suppose that is the case that the OR cant really take into account 'whats to come'... :A Mind you, nor can I....this is my first pregnancy, so who knows what can happen, and hoping everything works out okay, what having a baby is like.....!!!

Wow, really overwhelmed re; my life now! After 2m (and day after as I have to go to my court two days in a row) Ill def feel like something has lifted at least!

Ill let you know how I get on....!

My congratulations too! Just think you'll be debt free to enjoy your new baby! Despite what people say Babies don't have to be expensive - it happens when they become teenagers!

hi, i'm 36 weeks pregnant and went b/r just over 2 weeks ago. i will be receiving maternity allowance which is £112 per week, plus any tax credits (which i doubt will be much) and i am not expecting to get given an IPA.

i told the OR after the court in the 5 min phone call, just to let them know so they could arrange the phone interview and also to let them know if i went into labour i would ring them. i don't think it will make a difference, i doubt once the baby is born you will have any surplus cash at all i know i wont!
