Bad..... Really BAd :(

Hi Everyone, im new here been subscribed to Martins excellent newletter for a long time and been on this website for a while, just saying thanks for all the great things.

Right to the problem  worst thing thats ever happened and i have no clue of what to do next if anything.

I know its really bad but i was betting today on the tennis match - davis cup - Djokovic VS Davydenko :( :silenced: Djokovic was winning 2-1 when suddenly he retired as he could not go on. The match was given to Davydenko. By the way i betted on Djokovic to win.

The betting website - Betfair which i used honoured all bets in this market as it says 1 set contitutes a match, which i didnt know beforehand (my bad) but other sites such as BET365, VCBet, Boylesports VOIDED the bets as the match was not complete in real terms and fairly.

Now i have no idea what to do as i lost a fair bit on that match, i know im stuipid but whats happened has happened.

Is there anything i could do about this? I would love if any one can give me any helpfull tips or anything as it could be really helpfull (apart from stop gambling of course lol im already onto that)

The sites i mentioned above are Adjudicated by IBAS-uk and its weird that the site i betted on allowed the bet through and the others voided the bet. I am gooing to email IBAS-uk for a adjudication but have no hopes of reclaiming lost money.

If anyone can please help in any way i would be really gratefull

Thank You all for your time (sorry for it being too long)

Do you mean that you were matched betting?

Unfortunately, this is one of the potential pitfalls of matched betting, and the conditions of each bet is something that you need to check before the match, either on the relevant website or if it is not clear, by contacting customer service.

If you do think that you have a problem with gambling, then Gamcare should be your first port of call x

Edit: Just reread your post, and now I'm assuming that you were not matched betting. If so, I really would recommend contacting Gamcare.

Just double checked Betfair's website. The following are relevant, and show that unfortunately, you have no chance of having the result reversed:

If a team or competitor is disqualified, withdraws or forfeits after starting an event they will be deemed a loser providing at least one other team or competitor completes the event. If no team or competitor completes an event (having started) then all bets will be void except for bets on any markets which have been unconditionally determined.

    21. TENNIS

o If a player or pairing retires or is disqualified in any match, the player or pairing progressing to the next round (or winning the tournament in the case of a final) will be deemed the winner. However if less than one set has been completed at the time of the retirement or disqualification then all bets relating to that individual match will be void.

    Hi thanks for your reply

Yeah it was matched betting, forgot to mention it above sorry

but i am wondering, its like daylight robbery - its not like we in control of who gets injured or not and its not exactly fair that i lose especially as the match was not "completed" but was won by a retirement

Does any one think its actually fair? and could anytihng be doone about it beacuse its not exactly great that other people winn due to unforeseen circumstances

I;d love to see this rule actually changed and i do believe it is possible to have it changed as there are more negatives then positives

Love to hear what other people think - and is it actually worth complaining to the governing board?

No, absolutely not worth complaining. The rules are quite clear.

You are not in control when you bet, which is why with matched betting you have to check everything before betting.

Had you won on BF, I doubt that you would be complaining?

Well to tell the truth i would not be bothered about profits as the match was not fully complete - and thats the total truth

Its ashame they have that rule as its completely unfair, not sure if u agree with me on this

    Why is it unfair?!

If you weren't bothered about profits, you would not be matched betting. No one does it just for fun!

And also just remembered I did phone them and they kept saying about rules, there was a sympathetic guy who said it was like being kicked in the jaw or something but even he said 99% unlikely i will get refunded which was dissapointing

I was totally shocked and still am to what happened dont think it will ever get through to me

Partially my fault as i never knew this rule aswell - i was wondering i know its a long shot by a long way, and not sure if its right and not sure if you know about this - but do you think i should challenge there rules? because i can put up a case for it being changed i believe maybe something like court?

I do believe all betting sites should follow a set of rules to make it easier and fairer for everyone

You're not getting this. To be blunt, it is not partially your fault. It is completely your fault.

You cannot challenge the rules after you have made the bet. If you did not like the rules, you should have bet elsewhere.

Your belief does not have any basis in law. You really need to write this off to bad experience.

I'm pretty sure they all publish their rules, and leave it to the punter to compare them.

If you didn't, there's nothing you can do - it's like the small print when buying goods, ignore it at your peril
