Hanging Laundry on Balcony Etiquette

Recently moved into quite a nice brand new flat. We have a washer/dryer but prefer to use our balcony if the weather is nice and it saves on electricity using the dryer. We've noticed that nobody else does this. Do you think this is some kind of faux pas and we might be upsetting our neighbours/ruining their view. It's over a car park we overlook so it's only the other residents who can see, not passers by.

There maybe a clause in your title deeds that forbids hanging your washing in your balcony.0

not acceptable really - who wants to see your shabby clothes hanging out on the balcony - do you think the architect envisioned that.
clothes on balconies are the same as broken cars in front gardens and stinking mattresses in alleys.
have some dignity and pride in where you live!I am not a financial advisor. Anything I post is basically just random stuff from my head. Digest it as you will. Being free of debt is good. Banks control us through debt. Caveat Emptor. Ignore anything I say. Oh and don't copy it either. Cheers. I'll have a Guinness extra cold.0 -
Think I know where bdon is coming from - however I hope I can put it a little nicer! I'm sure the OP doesn't intend their washing to hang about on the balcony for days or even weeks at a time, unlike some. A fresh bit of washing on a clothes horse, or little line, for a couple of hours can't be seen as all bad surely? I love to see a line of white washing blowing in the breeze. Very environmentally friendly! Definitely not hanging over the balustrade though - reckon that would not go down well with the neighbours.
PS - I live rurally, and few of my neighbours use their line - they all use dryers even in summer. That makes me fume!Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

What I would do is put a couple of flower troughs on the balcony with trailing flowers in (best in summer, obviously) which would then hide the washing...
I lived for years in Germany and you aren't allowed to hang washing out on a Sunday... personally I would use an airer for a few hours, but don't leave it out all day if you're at work or whatever... you might find that there is a clause says you can't do it though! Oh and who says the OP's clothes are shabby? Not very charitable...
I would just observe the Sabbath and don't leave it out for toooo long. Just use on a nice sunny / windy day to freshen your washing up. A little camouflaging wouldn't go amiss either.0 -
Why not ask an approachable neighbour to find out what the attitude might be? You might start an environmentally friendly revolution!
On this general theme: We have students across the road and one night thought there had been some sort of terrible accident - until we realised that they had hung a wet suit to dry out of the first floor window!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
My deeds had a clause saying no washing out on the balcony
when me and my father were fitting a new bathroom i had a old wet towl that was used to mop up, i put it out on the balcony just to get it out of the way, couple of days later the nosy old bag opposite chased me up on it, bless her
It annoying as my pvc romper suits dry best in the wind0
