Southern Electric online pay facility
Anyone else having trouble with this? Tried to pay my bill by debit card online today in an attempt to avoid the 1.5% credit card surcharge. If they know I've paid by tomorrow, I'll get the discount off my next bill.
However, when I typed in my debit card details, the transaction was declined by my bank. Thinking there was a problem with the card, I called the bank. They confirmed my card was fine but the reason the transaction was declined was because the issue number had come over as 0 even though I had put in the correct issue number. I tried again and exactly the same thing happened.
So, I had to do a three day payment through the bank. As I bank with a different one to that of Southern Electric, they won't know I've paid for 3 days so I'll probably lose my discount for prompt payment. I have emailed SE asking if they know there's a problem with their interface, but I ain't holding my breath for a reply.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Got home today to find a letter from Southern Electric reminding me to pay my bill. Later this evening I got this email (grammaticals are all theirs) but I'm pleased

I apologise that you have experienced problems with our online payment system , we have not received any further complaints regarding this service although of course i will investigate.
In way of apology please be assured that i have added a goodwill payment to your account of £x.xx to ensure you have not missed your prompt payment discount.
