Hi There,
Im not sure if this is the right place to post but basically I am hoping It is.
I have a Lexmark printer 3300-although it says X3350 on the actual printer, my ink is starting to run out. I currently have photo31 and colour33 in it.
I assume ink is a bit pricey either way as when I have looked its usually £13 or more.
I am wondering If its ok to use for example tesco own brand ink catridges or another company that does it cheaper. If I can use a cheaper brand where should I go and what number do I have to buy???Sorry about this, its just that I want to print my son stuff so he has things to do.
Thanks

I had a Lexmark printer (which has just died.. after 4 years) and yes the ink for lexmarks is pricey BUT i have found that Tesco's ink is very good value for money... It's normally £5 - £7 cheaper per cartridge but unlike other "compatible" inks it hasnt mucked up my printer, it was as if it were Lexmark ink........
Hope this helps0 -
Thank you very much for replying and letting me know. I have had my printer for nearly 2 years and used it a bit for a while then obviously havent done since running out of ink. When i got the printer the ink came with it so I have never bought ink.
I will defianatly check tescos own then at the weekend as it will come in handy for half term ect...how would i know what ink would be compatible with my printer?Sorry to be a pain and thanks again0 -
I always use inkjet refill kits but I noticed Asda also do generic cartridges a couple of quid cheaper.
The tesco ink will be Ok,you have to drill a hole in the existing cartridge and inject the ink in.

Hi Good evening, I have a Lexmark printer that I got free with an offer from PC world with a toshiba lappy. The printer I dont use a lot, but when the ink dried up I found the replacements about £14 Some supermarkets sell replacements but only number 1 when I need number 2, probably would be cheaper to replace the printer, it is also a copier and scanner. I would like to find a cheap alternative to these inks.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Sorry to sound stupid but are these different types of ink catridges?I mean is an ink catridge and ink refill the same thing? I dont have a drill lol so wont be able to drill the hole, i thought it would be easy as in buy it and just put it in the printer, hmmm maybe no then
Firstly,you don`t sound stupid,if you`ve never done it then you don`t know.
You can go and buy the correct Lexmark cartridge but these are usually expensive.
For example, for my Lexmark X3470,I need a "number one" cartridge which cost about £15-99,but Asda has it`s own compatable cartridge for £12-99.
The other way is to buy a refill kit for about £5-95 and refill the cartridge yourself.
A refill kit will refill a carttridge up to eight times.
You don`t need a drill, there`s a small screw supplied and full instructions how to do it.0 -

A genuine ink cartridge is one made by Lexmark themselves. You get a cartridge and just plug it straight into the printer. This will be the most expensive option.
A compatible ink cartridge is one made by someone else. With Lexmark they are actually old cartridges that have been cleaned out and refilled for you. Again, all you have to do is stick it straight into your printer.
A refill ink is where you buy a small bottle of ink and usualy some syringes. You have to drill a hole in the side of your existing cartridge, and then inject ink into the cartridge. This can get very messy, particularly if you have not done it before, but it is the cheapest option.
There are of course quality considerations too. The cheapest inks or compatible cartridges are unlikely to produce the same print quality. This isn't particularly important if you are just printing off letters and stuff, but if you are printing out high-quality photos, it will be important.0 -
my printer has 2 cartdridges one for colour and one for photo. Im a bit confused now as to which ones to get. I dont think i could do the re filling ones as knowing my luck it will get messy. Maybe i should just stick to lexmarks own cartridges and do it that way. So now im going to hunt the cheapist place to buy it. Thanks everyone for your replies x0
