What is the maximum you can afford to pay for this house considering all the redecoration you will have to do? If it were me and I decided my max was 235K then I'd go in at 228K and work up to my max. But that's just me and others may disagree ;)

It's often not just the stuff that is plain to the eye that needs fixing. If they didn't look after the kitchen, bathroom, decor then will they have maintained the fabric of the building properly?

You have to take each house on its merits. What have similar houses sold for? In what condition? How much do you need to spend? Work it out from there.

  • thanks for the replys guys we are selling our house for around £225.000 we also have some savings £10.000, the house is not in a really bad condition its just not to our taste its very oldish plus the central heatings the main problem as they only have the electric style heating so thats gonna costa small fortune. Ive tried looking at the prices around have gone for but they are all different types and sizes none whats around the size of this.
    thanks anyway guys x

The house we purchased last year had storage heaters in situ when we bought, there was no gas at the property.
We had storage heaters ripped out gas connected then central heating fitted. Cost us £550 to have gas piped 8 metres and £2000 for a combi condensing boiler and 7 rads fitted and that was my mate doing it.
