Many native animal species are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 in the UK and the Wildlife Acts 1976-2000 in Ireland. Some rare native and many non-native species are protected under the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations.
No animal or part of an animal of a species listed in Schedule 5 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act, or the Schedules to the Wildlife Acts 1976-2000, may be listed on eBay unless the seller can produce documentary evidence confirming that they have not been taken from the wild illegally. A list of species on Schedule 5 can be found at: http://www.jncc.gov.uk/page-1815.
No animal or part of an animal of a species listed on Annex A of the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations may be sold on eBay unless accompanied by an Article 10 certificate as issued by the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), or the Irish Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government. More information on the species listed in the Annexes can be found at: http://www.ukcites.gov.uk/intro/cites_species.htm#EC Regulation Annexes.

I have sold furs on ebay and am not totally ashamed about it. These belonged to my Great grandma who was born in 1857 . They were bought then to keep you warm and were not expensive squirel mink etc. They only became a status symbol in the 1920/30's. I do not subscribe to the killing of animals for fashion, but I think we have to have a degree of sense in that vintage have been killed so if we trash them we are wasting an animals life. I in no way subscribe to modern furs, Ivory etc. I have sent a lot of furs abroad that I received in our charity shop to war torn areas, where I hope they made a difference.
Do not want to be political but I think if we burn or trash them somebody somewhee could be missing out. I believe I am talking about pre 1950's furs when it was a way of life and people knew no better we now do.
If I have offended someone I apologise but I believe that if the animal has already been killed we should honour it's demise. Anything modern should be denegrated.

i do know people who inherited expensive fur items from elderly relatives and don't want to wear them, but then don't want to throw them out either...... i couldn't wear fur, but if selling it on ebay means someone gets it there rather than buying something new, then i can live with that.
