Although I read MSE sometimes more than twice daily, this is the first time I've read this particular thread and am quite interested in Staywarm's offer that I've waded through. I'm wondering though if I will have enough info for them to make a comparrison as we only moved to this house in May.
Previously (where my wife was a warden of a sheltered housing complex), heating was on non-stop (elderly residents) and for that, we paid £8.40wk =£33.60mth.
My electricity over a 12 mth period was £279.30 =£23.27mth.
This together was £56.87, but we had three bedrooms for the two of us.
We are now in a two bedroom house with electricity and gas heating property.
I'm tempted to give them a call, but don't want to be impulsive and "agree" untill someone has given me the benefit of their opinion. Will it be of use to add that besides me being over 60, my wife has now become disabled and qualifies for DLA at the higher rate due to mobility problems, she cannot outside without help due to a balance problem brought on by a shingles virus.

Well, I've made that call to Staywarm. It seems that they will charge £53.50 per month for our 2 bedroom property, ( they know I am on incapacity ben & over 60 and that my wife is on DLA higher rate and as such, qualify for 4 light bulbs, whoopee!).
Based on a previous twelve months calculation we should save £40.44 per yr. We have the 10 days in which to cancel.
So, we shall see. Currently as I sit here having put on extra clothes to keep warm, I am comforted to think that once this is set up and in place, we will be able to keep the heating on for longer than two hours every morning & evening.
As an aside, I persuaded my ISP to reduce my monthly premiums to less than half price for 3 months and also, discovered that my wife is entitled to reduced bus travel, so a good mornings savings. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
