Buying a New Car

  • Dear All

We would like to take the opportunity to provide some feedback on comments made about Autoebid. AutoeBid has taken new car orders from thousands of happy UK buyers, although very occasionally suppliers can have issues with pricing and/or a delay in the vehicle which are generally out of their control. We take our customers' protection very seriously and therefore if the issues are repeated or we find any supplier that is acting unethically we simply remove that supplier from our system.

With reference to the issues within this forum, we have indeed subsequently banned the corresponding supplier from using our system following these difficulties. Another example of a supplier we have banned from our system is http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/repor..._20050920.shtml.

Buying a new vehicle through our system still represents one of the safest ways to purchase a new vehicle in the UK. If you click the following link you can view our strict supplier terms, which form the basis of any order through our system: http://www.autoebid.com/messages/se...-account-uk.htm. If any buyer receives a bid from a supplier that does not conform to these criteria, it is clearly marked with their actual profile details and they would have the option to choose whether or not they wished to move ahead through that supplier.

With regards to the reserve prices showing on our system, these cannot be guaranteed by definition since we operate an auction service and do not sell cars directly. We update the reserve pricing regularly to reflect discounts that our users have been getting on each model range. We also make it very clear that this price is not guaranteed and simply represents the point at which the buyer has agreed to go ahead and purchase the vehicle. Having said that, the reserve price is generally met - and quite often is actually beaten. In one recent auction it was beaten by £1000!

If the reserve is not met (or the details specified in the buyer's order are not met), the buyer is under absolutely no obligation to proceed and our fee (£250+VAT or 1% +VAT) will not be taken - and this is explicit from the outset. However a buyer in this situation could of course move ahead if they decided to do so.

The largest online auction forum in the UK is eBay - and if you have a look at their website it has scams pasted all over the homepage! Our auction system protects buyers from scams by vetting the suppliers that use the system - and if the supplier profile rating does not meet the full 5 stars, the buyer is under no obligation to move forward with an order.

Hopefully this serves to clarify any misunderstandings - and to reassure you that we have acted in the light of these difficulties to try to prevent them from recurring in future.

  • can anyone tell me what the best way into a new car is, rent lease buy etc etc...
  • arent you limited to number of miles per year ? I have seen some of these lease deals before, but they only allow 10,000 miles, whats the excess charge ? ?
  • Good point!! You can get a price for most mileage normally upto 40k per annum although you can get quotes for more and pay for it...ect!!

Excess: is Circa 5p so £50.00 for every 1,000 miles over you agreed limit say it's 10k then you pay the additional excess (Companies do vary) Still good when you think about it!!

Thanks for asking the Question it's good that your interested!!
