Windscreen damage costs vs insurance premiums

Had my windscreen badly damaged by scumbags and wondering if it's cheaper to pay for repair/replacement myself rather than invoke my policy with its 9 yrs no-claims and see the premiums rise.

thanks

Most claims on windscreens will not affect your NCD bonus although you normally are required to pay an excess. This varies but is normally around £60. There used to be a few windscreen replacement companies that would offer you money toward that excess. Some insurance companies do specify that you have to use a named glass replacement service.
