Parking issues

I live in a block of flats. Most residents have a numbered parking spot in the carpark, including myself. There are a few visitor spots, and I think some residents have basement garages.

For some reason, people like to park in my spot. It's annoying when I come home from a day out and there is a car in my spot. I park close behind and leave a note on the windscreen explaining about the numbered spots. I don't see why I should have to inconvenience another resident or hunt down a spot on the street because some has chosen to park in my spot.

I have thought of leaving my car behind theirs and just go away for a few days and see how they like being boxed in.

The car in question today is one I have seen parked in someone else's spot for at least the last 2 or 3 weeks. My flat overlooks the carpark, so I know all the regular cars.

Do I have any rights since it is a private car park?

Can you put a cone in your place so that it deters people parking there?

Inconvenient as you will have to remove the cone, but worth a try..

Buy a wheel clamp. That'll stop the blighters.
  • If you have space to park behind them, do it and put a note on the window saying when you want to leave my parking space please phone ****.
When the phone rings leave it 10 minutes and then move your car.
    People soon cotton on.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

we live on a private development and have the same problem..we can do nothing about it other than what Andy says above. First time you might be quite nervous about it but it actually gets quite amusing in the end because they inevitably get irate then have to turn it all around and beg to get you to remove you car.....you have the power!

When this happened to me in a flat I rented I parked right behind them, stopping them from getting out.. Unfortunately I had to go out again before they asked me to move the car, so didnt get to talk to him.. He/She must have seen it anyway (flats overlooking carpark), coz it never happened again.
