Protect your PC against viruses and worms
Norton AntiVirus 2005 gives you powerful, easy-to-use protection against today's increasingly devious - and increasingly dangerous - viruses and worms. Any time your PC interacts with the outside world, it's at risk of infection. Defend it with the proven protection of Norton AntiVirus.

Removes viruses automatically

Powerful virus protection means the software does the work, not you. Norton AntiVirus works in the background to detect and remove the viruses, worms, and Trojan horses automatically - without interrupting your work. It scans for infections as files come in via email, instant message attachments, web downloads and other sources. Norton AntiVirus can even detect viruses that have been hidden in file archives, and defend against certain threats before protection updates are available for them.
Protects against multiple threats

You already trust Norton AntiVirus to block malicious code in email and instant message attachments. Now it also defends your PC from internet worms such as Blaster and Sasser that spread via different internet connections. Internet worms are increasingly common, so it's important to select an antivirus program that can stop them before they get into your computer.
Defends against new viruses and spyware

Symantec's exclusive LiveUpdate technology checks for new virus protection regularly and downloads them automatically. Norton AntiVirus can identify and stop suspicious programs even between updates. To make sure you get the benefits of protection updates right away, the new QuickScan tool automatically scans your system as soon as the updates are installed. Norton AntiVirus also defends your PC against spyware and certain other non-virus threats, including adware and keystroke logging programs.

... or save yourself a further £19.99 and get AVG Free, by Grisoft - http://free.grisoft.com. Its really really excellent, i've installed it on loads of machines, does the automatic update thingy, integrates with XP.

Probably a good price for Norton Antivirus but try out AVG free first - you may be pleasantly surprised - i was.

I'm not tyring to be clever here, but a lot of people that play live internet games have enormous problems with Norton anti-virus software

AVG Free is really good software, and an enormous number of private individuals use it (including me!) ;)
Thanks to all who post constructively.

I agreee with the above sceptics, Norton product were once superb

If you are the sort of person who worries about Internet security, identity theft, viruses and the like then go get Norton

If you are the type of person who wants to be able to access the Internet or be able to use the computer at all then you may want to try AVG and Zonealarm instead

Having just spent the last 5 hours uninstalling NAV from a PC (it messed up everything from DHCP to email) I would tell anyone to avoid it like the plague.

I still have to remove the pre-installed NIS from my laptop. Hell is waiting for me.

I have Avast on one PC and AVG on another. I'd recommend either and as a bonus they are completely free.
