Does the external aerial help the Tom Tom Go signal??
I have bought a Tom Tom Go 300 and am really struggling as soon as I go out the village, I seem to get a signal on a very rare occasion.
I have heard if you attach an external aerial/antena these work quite well. This costs an extera £50 odd pounds, so dont really want to buy one unless it is really going to work???
Any advice would bve great as I am travelling to Spain next week and may end up around the globe if I am not carefull!!!!!!!

Hi
I think you may have a fault with your tom tom as i have the 700 series and find the gps receiver very sensitive indeed,in fact it sometimes sees the satelites inside the house if it is close to a window.
I dont know how much you know about them but it is important that they have a clear line of sight to the sky so they can "see" the satelites. I do know that some cars with heated windscreens can cause problems as these degrade the signal the unit receives. You can go to the gps map screen on the tom tom where you can see the strengh of the signal the unit is receiving from each satelite, normally it can see 3 or 4 at least (you need a minimum of 3 for a good positional fix).Whilst you are on this screen move the unit about in the car until the signal improves and you should have no problems. If it still no better then place it on top of the car roof whilst you are in the open and it should show full strength.Only areas where signal would be weak are in towns with high buildings, multi storey/underground car parks and roads that pass alon the bottom of valleys with steep hills either side (all these places make it difficult for the tom tom to see all the satelites it needs.Hope this has helped you and if you need any more advice feel free to pm me.
