If you want to be 'moneysaving' then a power shower uses excessive water and electricity. A Mira shower will be a good one, and you would have to pay a plumber to install it and he will know what to do with your water tanks or rising mains etc. It could be a good move to get a plumber in for an estimate BEFORE buying your shower - some have sources whereby they could get you the model you already chose at trade price and pass on some of the benefits to you. My plumber sent me to his trade outlet to save him time and me money - so I wasn't paying him to go and buy it, but at the same time I was getting a trade price and a good serivce from his trade outlet!

So, is there any advantage of an 'electric' power shower over a separately pumped (dedicated pump for the shower) shower. I have a dedicated pumped shower in the en-suite (brilliant pressure) and am thinking of up-grading the pump to feed a second shower in the bathroom. Just wondering if it would be less hassle to fit an 'electric' pumped shower? Would the performance be as good?
  • I don't think you can fit a pump to an electric shower. Only showers using "stored" H&C water can be pumped.
  • make sure if you have an electric shower fitted, that the electrician is part p registered,as this is a notifiable job because it is in a bathroom,if he is'nt you will have to notify building control and pay a fee for them to test it,

We have a Gainsborough 10.5kw shower. As someone else said, it's adequate. A power shower would be great but this one does the job just fine. Remember to let the electrician know that you're getting a 10.5kw shower fitted as you'll need the right size of electric cable. I didn't know this before, but the more power your shower has, the thicker cable you'll need (i'm sure there'll be some electricians laughing at my explanation lol)

We got the pipes and wiring done, then got the place tiled, and then the shower got fitted. You can get some wetwall shower panels if you don't want to tile. I've seen quite a few showers with this instead.
