Company in receivership - Goods owing - Protection?

Hi,

Just a quick question for all your credit experts out there. Went to the Baby Show in October 07, paid £600 for a travel system with a Smile Visa credit card. Was talking to company up till last week. There has been a shortage of this particular make of travel system (verified when we checked with other companies!) so think nothing of the delay in delivering... I am now due in two weeks and just found out today (from the company's website) that the company has gone into receivership! What happens now? It was my hubby's credit card and he has contacted Smile today to find out what is going to happen and they told him to file a claim online, which he has done. They would investigate and they said 9 out of 10 times, they will refund the money? Is that true? We will contact the company dealing with the insolvency on Monday. What other recourse do we have? Will the Baby Show organiser care? I imagined they sold lots of travel systems in that weekend of the show! Hubby has already ordered another travel system (this time we are paying when we collect it!) as we really need one for the baby... It's not a good time for us to be £600 short! Many thanks for the advice...

Contact your CC company now to register a claim and pursue them. They might roll over and pay up but more than likely will put up a fight. If you leave it too long, the CC company will drag its heels and you could lose out. Keep this board updated with how things are going.
  • Hi,

Thanks for the advice. My hubby has already filed a claim online with Smile so fingers crossed! £600 is definitely worth pursuing...
