We used to have a lot of 'cold calls' but since registering with TPS they have been cut dramatically and like the above posters we had them at anytime of the day/evening and weekends but I think the worst for me was a Sunday Morningat 8.30am. Whoa did they get a blunt answer.
But I have found a very useful tool.
    My Son
If he happens to answer the phone they assume they are talking to the man of the house (deep voice) and so proceed to ask if indeed he is. Now as the're isn't one and his Dad has never lived at our addressm its safe to assume they don't know us and so son can proceed with his cunning plan.
He is allowed to say 'yes yes' and then 'one moment while I get a pen', he then puts the phone to one side for 2 mins. If they are still there he says 'yes yes' and does it again. He has done this to a few with alsorts of reasons. I came home from work once to find he had said 'I must go to the toilet, one moment'.
Persistance of these cold callers will never pay off. But we have at a laugh at their expence.

That's my usual response. If they say they'll wait I tell them I have a cordless phone and invite them along. As yet, nobody has accepted this invitation.

I have just had a cold call on my wife's mobile. This was registered 12 months ago with the TPS. The guy mumbled a bit but I think he said he was from Phones4U. When I mentioned the TPS he had never heard of it. He then passed me over to his "supervisor" who, when I said they were breaking the law, said that they must have dialled a wrong number. I suppose he could be telling the truth but who knows?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

they don't dial wrong numbers. They are usually put through an automated dialler, that should be cross referenced with all the numbers registered with TPS.

Also remember, when completing forms in hand online or via the phone ALWAYS request that they do NOT add you to their marketing lists. As soon as you on this, they are entitled to call you even if you are registered with TPS as you have given your permission. I'm sure if I want their business I'll find it when the time is right.
