i am going to Leicester to pick up a car and after looking at buses and flights train is the most convienient and cheapest. I live in Prestwick on the west of scotland.
i went on the scotrail and virgin website and put in Prestwick to Leicester and prices were £83 with 3 changes or £88 with 2 changes.
is there anyway to get cheaper fares or is that as good as im gonna get, travelling from Mon 11 or Tues 12 from 8am .
i am unemployed does that help any way? starting a job soon though

hi, cheapest way would be virgin trains to birmingham, try doing it with combination of glasgow - preston/lancaster then on to birmingham. then central trains to leicester
hope this helps0 -
You can save about £20 by getting a single to Leeds and another one on to Leicester. Not the fastest of routes though.
You are too late for cheap advance tickets by the look of it, unfortunately
If you are unemployed you may be eligible for a new deal railcard - but in Scotland it can only be used to buy season tickets. You get it from the Job Centre. No idea how long they take to issue them.0 -
Look at this thread for a possible way to make the Virgin bit cheaper.moneystotighttomention wrote: »hi, cheapest way would be virgin trains to birmingham, try doing it with combination of glasgow - preston/lancaster then on to birmingham. then central trains to leicester
