 Im sick of paying £1 for 4 bloody yoghurts but its the best way to get important calories into my dd shes so thin and wont drink milk and cheese,s alone i have to give her cornflakes etc with milk or macaroni cheese which she loves but i still feel she needs more calories so i buy milky bar yogs as she loves them but they cost a fortune and she enjoys them at dinner time with packed lunch and i feel good knowing that just under 200 calories are in there as she wont eat all her sarnies or fruit in packed lunch sooo....
does anyone know a home made substitute that i can make from home or buy somewhere else cheaper that she will enjy just as much so that im still bulking up her calorie intake but saving the pennys many thanks again

Yak, don't blame her rice pudding is gastly :rotfl: sorry I just hate it.
Milkshakes (usually made part yoghurt part milk), smoothies and fresh fruit juice were one of the keys with my DS when he was underweight. Natural sugars.
Milky bar 'values' *** The Technical Stuff *** (per pot) 190 kcal 3.7g Protein 17.4g Carbohydrate (of which 15.8g is sugars) 11.8g Fat (of which 7.4g is saturates) 0g Fibre a trace of Sodium
WOAH!!! How much sugar!!!!! No wonder she loves them. Fat content is very high for saturated fat aswell. I would say ok she is underweight but all that sugar will likely give her the runs, rather than the nutrition she needs.
Think I would key into the other things she likes more, what about a homemade chocolate mousse? Still be high on the surgar but hopefully not as high as that. What about custard or normal yohurts?
There are some packed lunch ideas threads on here, will post them if I find them before a moderator does. One day I might be more organised...........

Have you checked the ingredients on the carton?
It might be as simple as perhaps sweetening some natural youghurt a little and a tiny dash of cocoa powder.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. We don't have moderators - only Board Guides to help people find their way around.
We have 57 different threads on yoghurt - one of which is a large recipe collection which, for a bet, is likely to have a chocolate recipe in there.
Somewhere
Edit:- I can't find one. I can't believe there isn't one somewhere given how many posts we have on yoghurt. Sheesh!

OK - so erm... chocolate essence?
A couple of drops are unlikely to discolour the yoghurt when well mixed in.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I'd just give her more fruit, veg and other healthy items she needs rather than the desert. Kids weight issues can become a real issue for parents, more so than the children.
If you want to continue with something similar, if you search for 'white chocolate mousse recipe' on google as I just have you will find stacks of recipes, the quantities stated should make loads from the ones I have read so would maybe need to reduce the recipes down a little. Of course you can control the sugar content (possibly by using an artificial sweetner or better still just reducing the sweetness bit by bit so she gets use to it gradually, kids with a sweet tooth can become nightmare fussy eaters) in each serving by reducing it yourself bit by bit to wean her off the mid afternoon sugar kick. You might find some resistance with this of course as many children get used to it, it becomes like a craving for some, school may even see her behaviour on an afternoon alter if she's not getting the sugar hit (usually for the better once she is used to it, sugar rushes can be an issue for behaviour and concentration)
Have you considered discussing her weight with a dietician for advice? My sons was very helpful when trying to sort out weight problems.
Sorry Squeaky, so used to using the term moderator on forumsplease forgive me Mr Board Guide

I thought milky way yoghurts were lightly chocolate flavoured?
And looking at the info given above - very sweet!
So splenda might be a better option than sugar.
Did you read the ingredients list? There must be a clue in there somewhere?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
