  • The Olympic challenge money is going straight off my overdraft, so that's out. The sealed pot might have a tenner in it, tops - so that's not worth opening! I've got nothing worth selling that would net me that much in a hurry, and savings? Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - nice thought :-)

Sadly, I definitely need a car as the buses where I live are useless and I'd never get to work on time without one.

Cheers guys, looks like I'm gonna have to extend the overdraft (sob!).

So extend your overdraft, then do another £10 a day challenge in order that it is cleared within a month - a bit of motivation and you will have it cleared within a timescale of your choosing!

No need for the overdraft to linger any longer than necessary.

  • You need to find out when your MOT runs out, if it was this weekend then fine it has to be done, but if it isn't until the end of the month then you could wait until then

But this information is probably too late to save you the money,

Secondly is it a main dealer? or smaller garage? you could ask them to invoice you for the amount, payable at the end of the month, allowing them to swipe your card as proof incase you do a runner. Then you have 19 days to find the money.

I don't know if this helps

I feel I ought to point out that you should not drive your car once it has failed its MOT until it is repaired, even if there is still time left on the previous MOT.

    Overdraught would probably be cheaper.

Yes, I second that - if it has already failed, it can't legally be driven now.

Hope you get the overdraft extended.

  • in defence of my suggestion, failing an mot does not mean it is illegal to drive, that is a common misconception used by garages to get you to pay them to fix it.

You can fail an mot because your windscreen wipers don't work, how many people on here would still drive their car in the summer months??????
