If any we're replaced within 12 months then they can be considered "Not Fit For Purpose" and replaceable by the garage. To be honest it's not unreasonable to expect these components to last in excess of 5, 6 or 7 years. Even if you had them replaced within the last 24 months you should be able to negotiate with the garage to get them replaced without taking legal action.0

Thanks for your feed back. They were last replaced April 2004 so I will give them some agro - thanks again0

It is a weakness in the Renault design -- I know of four Renault Megane and Laguna owners who have suffered repeated breakdowns as a result of failed coils within the 3-year warranty period. AA/RAC mechanics keep stocks of these in their vans such is the regularity of this fault.
