    who are gsf have i got the wrong oil from halfords?

    Which did you choose - if you folowed the advice in the booklets' on the Halfords oil displays, you'll be OK.

    with the car only being 4 years old halfords display did not say what oil to use


    showed the guys in the shop my manual none of them seemed to have clue

    The Halfords oil display usually has a big booklet, listing just about EVERY car in it - together with the oil they say is appropriate.

    Not sure what the halfords offers are just now, but they usually have 10/40 semi synthetic own brand, for £12 ish. This isn't the lowest price for a similar oil, but if you've bought that one, as long as it has the VW numbers your handbook says, on the pack, it'd be fine.
