Do you have ADSL filters on each socket that is in use, including Sky, Fax etc? If you are using a router, you don't need any dial up software to connect. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
do have adsl filters where i need them.
every time i ring aol they tell me it's the way i have it all connected yet it's been connected like this for 3 years so i think their talking twaddle.
goona have a look for moden in device manager. and remove it if there is one.
might be silly question but don't i need a modem for aol?0 -

Has there been any lightning recently? Spikes on the phone line caused by lightning can trash your filter. Filters can also go wrong so simply replace them.

It might be something as simple as AOL playing up..I had the same problem recently and couldn't stay connected for more than 15 minutes at a time. It all started when i got the 'dial bb connected' message too.
I posted the problem on here and loads of AOL customers were having the same problem. Something to do with a beta version of aol coming out and the fact they are being taken over by the carphone warehouse.
I emailed AOL support and got a great long list of stuff to do, to get the problem sorted. I spent ages doing it all and still got regular disconnections. I then emailed them and said i'd had enough and if the problem wasn't sorted i would be leaving them....not had a problem since..ummmmmm.. also had an offer sent ot me for a superfast BB connection at a greatly reduced rate, though you have to sign up for 18 months..a coincidence? i doubt it.
Have a good old nag to AOL, hopefully it will sort out.The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter
