oh dont be daft. These milk companies make an absolute fortune. i breast fed both of mine for over a yr and thats how it should be done, and still mainly would be if it weren't for these milk companies. (And yes I know a tiny minority can't breastfeed, but a large majoirty of ones who say they can't actually can!!! (It's just too much like darned hard work!! It's not that they're "too hungry" or you "dont have enough milk" thats how BF is. i fed mine every 2 hours MINIMUM. Often every hour, and my youngest fed every 2 hrs day and night until he was 8 mths old!!!! They feed often when you BF. But these milk companies try and push their products and make it look easier.

Disco I completely agree tho its not always every 1-2 hours!
BUT what is a bigger shame is the women that don't even consider it... there isn't enough encouragement from the midwives etc (in my experience) I was 19 when I had Joshua and no one encouraged me to try it or offered me support I did it off my own back and I do think more people would do it if they did more to encourage support etc!!!

I'm lucky... my Joshua was every 2-3 to start with then 4 hours to the second for the rest of the first 6months and then he started on solids and was every 6 hours except when he was sleeping at night and it was 9! then he got his first tooth and things got a bit nasty so he was weaned off at 7. Oliver is a sweetheart he feeds every 3hours in the day (7am-10pm) and he sleeps right through (10pm-7am) and he's only 9wk!!!
BUT I must add that these feeds can last 30min-1hour haha!!!

I love breastfeeding and feel really proud that i'm giving my children the best of the best for the healthiest most natural start in life, I wish more people would give it a real attempt i'm not talking days a good few weeks before they give up... yes it is uncomfortable to start with especially when the milk starts coming through and one breast is bigger than your babys head (bigger than your head *JK* haha) BUT it gets better and better and better....

Now I can do it one handed standing on my head whilst making tea and juggling joshua with one foot haha well maybe not but you get my point!

Sorry its just one thing that annoys me like when I was in tesco cafe the other day feeding (never did it in public with josh) and I got dirty looks even though it was obvious what I was doing but no one could see anything... one lady tutted?!
Made me want to say something, but wont put me off because why should I have to go and sit in a baby change etc and become an outcast for doing one of the most natural things a woman can do!?!

ALSO (sorry last bit of moaning) I couldnt believe that you get free formula in hospital!!! They should give free breast pads and nipple cream if thats the case!!!

Usually I used to have to go into a public toilet to breast feed!! Not at all pleasant of hygienic. Even then you would find that you had upset people who would loudly comment that the cubicle had been occupied too long!!!!

Breast feeding CAN be done very discreetly. There is no need to "lob 'em out!". If done discreetly it is the most natural thing in the world and society should encourage it. I have every respect for breastfeeding mums!!!! It is also much more convenient....and of course, free!!!!!

I would have hated getting up every few hours to warm up milk and sterilise bottles. Much nicer to curl up in bed with your little one resting his head on your arm and feeding whilst having a snuggle. Don't have all the nasty problems of trapped wind etc either as the milk flow is constant.
Go on girls, give your little one the best. It is worth enduring the initial pain barrier!!!!!!!:T

Don't be ashamed to BF! Thats what our breasts are for!! Not to paerade em on page three!!!
f muine needed feeding they got fed. Noone can ever see your boobie, its always under yout top and the same people tutting are likely ones weho visit Spain every year where the beaches are full of cnatilly dressed and half naked women and read the Sun esp for page three!!

Dont EVER let people put you down. I am proud to have breaast fed and my 2 are 14 and 10 and have NEVER needed antibiotics and rarely even get a cold. (Tho I believe thats also down to thjeir very healthy diet. No artificial coulours etc. NO awful sugar free drinks packed with dangerous chemicals, sugar is FAR better!!! But mine drink water, eat at least 5 ports of fruit and veg and get loads of exercise. I do feel breast feeding gave them a great start tho)

On a nicer note, C&G sent me the Cow ages ago......2months ago a coupon for some formula, and yesterday 3 vouchers off stuff.

Where BF is the better option, formula has its place too. Its up to you which/ both you use. I have always thought wouldn't it be good for shopping centers have a room maybe next to the toilets with chairs so that woman can BF out of site of offended eyes, they can also chat to other mothers. That way the cleaners can be close by to make sure the room is kept clean.
Maybe they have these already, but seems from TV reports and above posts this is not happening
