Virgin credit card

I know this probably doesn't help, but I've just had a letter from Virgin telling me that any purchases I make before my April statement will be 0% until my August statement. I think this is because I stopped using my card a couple of months ago and they're trying to tempt me back - so it's not all bad news from Virgin.0

We have had the same letter!! This is the second time we have had this letter in jut over 6 months. We are already really struggling with cards in general and when we received this letter AGAIN I was extremly upset and stressed. My partner immediately rang and blasted the customer service agent explaining that he was already struggling to pay and if they insisted on leaving the increase on the account then he would be left with no choice but to not pay them a penny as the amount we could afford to pay them would just cover the interest and we would never be able to pay anything off the balance. He baffled the agent with a few carefully chosen long words and they relented and put the rate back to what it was. I feel they are relying on people not challenging the increase!! Good luck to everyone and any advice on how to deal with card companies in general without taking out more cards would be welcome. Thanks:beer:0

I've just spoken to a chap at virgin. He explained what the 5 % minimum payment was all about......still didn't really understand, but basically my payments won't go up,and not to worry.

Hi
i am relieved to know it isn't just me. Mine is 34.9%. Spookily this letter came just a week after i negotiated a 0% till November BT with them. with 3%.
As the mini payments were £5, I worked out by transferring from Tesco's I would save £420 in interest after the BT fee. As I have a DD set up, then i was planning on putting the money I wanted to pay into my savings acct to get interest and then paying that off in October before the deal ended and then going for a new 0% so that I wouldn't build up too many searches in the mean time. I will write and challenge it as suggested. i shall wait with baited breath for the next statement next week to see that the BT is indeed 0%. Just glad i didn't do the Feb 09 deal offered as that was for more transfer.
BTW - I have a NAtwest on 0% till Nov as well. So was shocked on my last statement to see a estimated interest of £34 based on £169 purchases!!!! The rate for that is 13.9%. the customer service person couldn't explain it just said it is estimated. Again need to wait for the bill to see.0
